A Permanent Michael Jackson Memorial in London’s Lyric Theatre
A memorial plaque for Michael will be unveiled on June 24 at the Lyric Hall in the West End Theatre in London. This hall has been hosting audiences for 18 months for the musical Thriller Live. The show is based on the songs of the Jackson 5 and the King of Pop, and it is a tribute to Michael and his brothers.
Last year, after Michael’s death, people flocked to this hall and created a memorial for him there using candles, gifts, and flowers. At that time, the public signed 40 blank pages of a memorial book as a gesture of sympathy.
The dance group Diversity City—winners of Britain’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, who were supposed to perform in Michael’s This Is It concerts—along with the cast and members of the Thriller musical, will be present at the unveiling ceremony.
At the beginning of the ceremony, six teenage boys who played Michael in the musical are expected to sing Michael’s incredible song Speechless in unison. This memorial performance will be released as a single later this month to help children in war zones.
