Michael Jackson Foundation’s victory over a charity foundation

Last September, the Michael Jackson Foundation sued a charity organization that operated under the name Heal The World, accusing it of unauthorized use of Michael’s name and reputation. Heal the World is the name of a Michael song and also the name of his charity foundation, which stopped operating in 2002.

On Monday, the court judge ordered that the current organization—which has no connection to the Michael Jackson Foundation or its family members—must stop using Michael Jackson’s name and reputation. Last year, the Michael Jackson Foundation claimed that this charity organization was trying to attract donations by using names and symbols associated with Michael. The judge determined that the organization’s website misleads visitors because of the use of these symbols.
