Katherine Jackson Seeks to Upgrade Murray’s Charges

After the Associated Press published a report about Conrad Murray’s negligence in saving Michael Jackson’s life and raised the issue that he was more focused on saving himself and wiping away the traces of his mistakes than saving his patient’s life, Katherine Jackson—the 79-year-old mother of Michael—was extremely upset and demanded a review of Conrad Murray’s charges. Murray is set to be tried for the crime of involuntary manslaughter of Michael, and Katherine wants his charge upgraded to “second-degree murder.” Adam Streisand, his lawyer, said: “Mrs. Jackson never had any doubt that this man killed her son. And if the current allegations are true, upgrading the charge is necessary to match the severity of the crime that she says occurred.” “Second-degree murder requires proving intent and malice, which can be inferred from the defendant’s behavior. The allegations suggest that he violated his responsibilities as a doctor—or even as an ordinary human being—and preferred his own interests over saving a person’s life.” Source: eMJey / NY Daily News
