Will.i.am won’t release Michael’s unfinished songs

Will.i.am, the leader of the Black pop-rap group Black Eyed Peas, who collaborated on creating the new version of We Are The World, said in an interview: "I added lyrics to this song. We Are The World is a classic and it’s suitable for any time. But because we wanted to help Haiti, I wanted to put lyrics in the song that reflect the current situation in Haiti. I thought, if Michael were here, what would he write—not what would he sing. Because I can’t sing like him. But I thought about what he would feel proud of in an artistic piece. My lyrics were edited a bit, but the essence of what I wanted to say remained." Having written six songs with Michael, he says: "I’m not releasing them. I don’t think it’s fair to release his unfinished songs to take advantage of his death. That’s not right. We didn’t release them while he was alive. So why do it now that he’s gone?"
