TII Sales Pass $200 Million

Sony Pictures says worldwide sales for the film This Is It have surpassed $200 million. The film sold $61 million in North America and $140 million in other countries around the world. Its sales in Japan were $27.2 million, in the UK $14.3 million, and in Germany $12.1 million. The film is now the 22nd highest-grossing film in the world for 2009, and with sales three times higher than the Hannah Montana concert film, it is the top-selling documentary film about music in the history of cinema. The film has been released in countries worldwide since October 28th. Initially, a limited two-week run was planned, but due to the film’s enormous commercial success, the release period has been extended.
