This Is It Heads to China Too

Only 20 foreign films are allowed to be screened in China each year, and this year This Is It is one of them. Michael Jackson has a huge fan base in this country, so the film is expected to be shown in more theaters as much as possible. In 2008, China increased the number of its cinemas to 4,100.

This Is It, directed by Michael’s longtime friend and collaborator Kenny Ortega, was made using more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage recorded for the This Is It concerts. Michael’s death on June 25 turned his concert tour—which was supposed to open in London in July—into a film.
