Two-week run for This Is It

The film, which will be made using hundreds of hours of Michael’s recorded rehearsal footage for the London concerts, will have a limited two-week run. Sony announced that the opening date of the film in theaters worldwide has been moved from October 30 to October 28, and ticket sales will begin on September 27. Sony also introduced Kenny Ortega, Michael’s longtime friend, as the director of the film.

Ortega, who was chosen by Michael as the director of the This Is It concerts that were supposed to take place in London for 50 nights, will show behind-the-scenes footage of the preparation process for these concerts and Michael’s rehearsal performances on stage. Previously, it was said that parts of the videos Michael had recorded for 3D display during the concerts would also be included in the film, but that plan has now been removed from the agenda.

Kenny Ortega says that in this film, fans will see a Michael Jackson they’ve never seen before.
