Michael’s Nephew Says Something About His Uncle

Taj Jackson, one of Tito Jackson’s three sons and a member of the music group 3T, attended a court hearing on Friday in which a decision was being made about holding a tour of his uncle’s memorabilia—Michael Jackson’s.

The 36-year-old Taj told Associated Press outside the courtroom that Michael had attended a family dinner party a few weeks before his death and had spoken about his future creative plans after completing 50 nights of concert performances in London. At that dinner, 50 members of the Jackson family came together to eat at an Indian restaurant. That night was the last time Taj saw his uncle alive. Taj says Michael truly enjoyed being with his family and only talked about the future.

“He wanted to move into a new chapter of his life after finishing this tour. The last words he said to me were: ‘After this, we’re going to go to film.’”

Taj says his uncle had an interest in directing films.

Taj adds that he was one of the people who objected to Michael’s burial on the Neverland property, because after the end of the 2005 trial and Michael’s acquittal, his uncle had come to hate Neverland. He remembers his own dream time at Neverland, but the trial “destroyed the magic of Neverland.”

“Neverland was never an option for our decision. That place brought him a lot of sadness.”

Taj says that in the final years of his uncle’s life, there were very few trusted people around him, and sometimes he even asked his nephew for help.

“He really had a pure heart, and that was something people could take advantage of.”

On Friday, Taj took the witness stand to present his grandmother Katherine Jackson’s viewpoint to the court. Katherine objected to the memorabilia tour, but the judge said that without a doubt, he would approve it due to its profitability for Michael Jackson’s heirs.
