A hot market for Michael merchandise

Since Michael’s death, many sellers have been offering their goods with Michael’s image and name. Beads, clothes with printed images of Michael on them, and many other items. Michael’s lawyers are trying to prevent this kind of illegal income. One of these sellers sold 2,000 $15 T-shirts with a design of Michael in just one week. Of course, this isn’t just about buying and selling a few T-shirts. The income from such activities reaches tens of millions of dollars per year.

Michael’s lawyers, by filing a motion with the court, have asked that the court approve—by signing a contract on their behalf—with Bravado International, a company that produces such products, and to take action against sellers who exploit Michael’s name to make huge fortunes. Michael’s lawyers plan to legally release Michael-branded products so that this large income can be provided to Michael’s children. This plan requires Judge Beckloff’s approval, and if he confirms it, the mentioned products—such as screen savers and mobile phone themes, T-shirts, calendars and yearbooks, cards, lighters, toy animals that play Michael’s songs, and games—will enter the market. It has been said that in these games, people can create Michael tattoos on their virtual character’s body. Many believe that the income from selling Michael’s merchandise will surpass even that of the late King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley’s merchandise income last year—32 years after his death—was $55 million, of which $14 million came from retail sales. That income was $5 million for Marilyn Monroe. And perhaps very soon it will be proven that Michael’s popularity is greater than that of all the late stars. Displaying Michael’s memorabilia in museums and galleries is another part of the actions taken by his legal team. Source: eMJey / TMZ / AP
