Reprinting Michael’s Biography “Moonwalk” (Including a Download Link for the Book in Two Languages)

The book “Moonwalk”—which shares its name with Michael’s famous dance (Moonwalk)—first hit the market in 1988 and became a bestseller. Many books have been written about Michael Jackson, but this one has a special feature that sets it apart from all those other books: it is written in Michael’s own voice.

After Michael’s death last month, the book and music market has faced an unprecedented wave of demand. The book is set to be reprinted in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

Last Thursday, the judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court accepted the request by Michael’s will executors, John Branca and John McClain, to close the contract for the reprint of this book.

About the book: As we said, this book is written in Michael Jackson’s own voice. A writer named Shea Earhart wrote down Michael’s statements on paper, and thus Michael’s words were published in book form as Moonwalk by Doubleday on April 20, 1988.

“Moonwalk” leads the reader into the depths of the inner emotions of a music genius. The author—an artist and a 29-year-old music idol—reviews 24 years of experience performing on stage in this book. Michael speaks openly and clearly about the hardships of his adolescence, his family, love, plastic surgery, his exceptional career, and the strange and unfair rumors that have always surrounded him. At the time, critics described Moonwalk as honest, fair, and fearless.

The book sold worldwide. For example, in just two weeks in the UK it sold 70,000 copies and became the bestseller. The second printing, with a run of 12.5 thousand copies, was only enough for one week of buyer demand, and therefore the third printing was immediately released in 30.5 thousand copies.

In the list of best-selling books of the day in the U.S. published by the Los Angeles Times, Moonwalk was number one, and one week later it also topped the New York Times list, rising to number two. Over the course of a few months, more than 450,000 copies of the book were sold in 14 countries around the world.

For more than a decade, the book has been out of print, but it is now set to be re-released on October 13 with an initial print run of 100,000 copies at a price of $25 in the United States. In the new edition, a small number of rare family photos will be printed, as well as photos from Michael’s private archive. A painting that Michael created exclusively for this book will also be added. Also, in August this year, bookstores in France will host the book, but no information has yet been given about the release date in other countries.

The proceeds from the book’s sales will go to Michael’s three children, his mother Katherine, and several charitable institutions.
