A New Michael Statue at Madame Tussauds
As the time for Michael Jackson’s concerts in London—known as This Is It—draws closer, Madame Tussauds in London is planning to unveil a brand-new wax figure of Michael Jackson. That way, Michael Jackson will be just ahead of Queen Elizabeth in terms of the number of wax statues made of a single celebrity in the world.
This will be Michael’s 13th wax figure at Madame Tussauds. The last Michael statue had been made 15 years ago.
Liz Edwards, a representative for the manager of Madame Tussauds London, says that making multiple wax figures of one person is unusual, but:
"Michael Jackson is, in general, a truly unique individual, and his iconic status has made him one of the most beloved stars here. His statues from the Thriller and Dangerous eras are in the museum, and we want to use the excitement and huge buzz surrounding his return to the stage to celebrate his incredible 40 years of artistic activity—and present a Jackson statue from the 21st century era of This Is It."
The statue will show Michael in the same pose as on the posters for the new concerts. It will be unveiled before the opening of Michael’s summer concerts in London.
