Michael Jackson collection exhibition in Ireland

Several hundred items from Michael Jackson’s assets that are set to be auctioned in Los Angeles in April this year will be displayed in Ireland for two weeks starting March 6. Martin Nolan, one of the owners of Julien’s Auction House, has chosen Ireland to host this exhibition. Nolan says that the greater interest from fans in traveling to Ireland is the reason for this choice. According to Nolan: “So that this exhibition matches Michael’s life, it’s full of theater and music.” Some of the works and paintings created by Michael include a collection of five crystal gloves that were used in the short film Ghosts, the jacket Michael wore on the Dangerous tour, a heavily embroidered riding cap that Michael wore on the Triumph tour in 1981, and also a pair of crocheted acrylic socks that Michael wore during that same tour, as well as the MTV Moon Man award—these are among the items planned for display in Ireland. Nolan, who was responsible for preparing the catalog of Michael Jackson’s assets in Norland, says: “For a team of 30 people, it took 90 days to move the items inside the house and label them. Moving a marble fireplace that had been brought from an Italian palace to Norland alone cost 17,000 euros. The house was exactly the way Michael left it. Clothes were hung on hooks in the entry hallway, and the servants were busy maintaining the house and grounds.” Nolan and his business partner Darren Julien have stored Michael’s assets in warehouses and unidentified wagons to reduce the risk of theft. Nolan says: “This auction requires high security. Two thousand items of assets are expected to sell for between 1.2 million euros and 2.4 million euros, and because of Michael’s name, even for higher amounts.” Martin Nolan describes Michael as a collector with a strong passion for memorabilia and says: “If Michael fell in love with something, he would definitely buy it.” According to Nolan, Michael Jackson considers this auction a kind of cleanup: “He’s closing a chapter of his life and entering a new one.” One of the items Michael did not agree to sell is a red jacket he wore in the Thriller video.
