December 3, 2003 – Michael’s new album: Number one in Britain

Yesterday, Michael Jackson was introduced as the climber of the top pop music chart in England. His album beat the album Busted, the band Red Hot Chile Peppers, the British-born singer Kylie Minogue, the band Nakes Beatles, the group G Unit, and Britney Spears, all of whom had released their new albums on the market in the same week. (These albums placed second, fourth, sixth, seventh, thirteenth, and fourteenth, respectively.) Michael’s album Number Ones sold 120,000 copies in its first week. Gary Farrow from Sony says, "This album will sell extremely well during Christmas and will become one of the best-selling albums of the year. Fans are speaking with their wallets." Gennaro Castaldo from the chain store HMV also said, "Michael Jackson’s professional career is still far from over. It seems people can still connect with his music and are happy to listen to it."
