A friend of Jackson says he wants to “fight tooth and nail.” Yesterday, investigators waited for this singer at a small Santa Barbara airport amid a crowd of media, but he did not show up. Based on published reports, Jackson left Las Vegas on Wednesday in his private jet to an unknown destination. According to the Times newspaper report, he was being escorted by the deputy chief of the Santa Barbara sheriff’s office to his private jet. Brian Oxman, who has been Jackson’s family attorney for years but does not speak officially on his behalf in this matter, said that Jackson and his lawyer Mark Geragos are working on the timing of when they will confront the police. Geragos is also the defense attorney in the Laci Peterson murder case. Oxman, speaking on The Early Show on CBS, said, “They will set the right time and place themselves. The aim will be to do this as quickly as possible.” Steve Manning, one of Jackson family’s friends, said on Good Morning America on ABC that the Jackson family has gone to Las Vegas to support him. He said, “He feels that he has been wrongly accused, and that’s why he wants to fight tooth and nail. He is currently in a fight, and he is using every weapon to battle this.”
