Words from Michael on the occasion of his birthday
Dear Michael, on your 48th birthday we wish you the very best.

To my dear fans
With all my heart, I thank you for the support, loyalty, belief, and love you have always shown me. Over the years, your undeniable love, sacrifice, and support have inspired me and have lifted me to the very highest levels of energy, strength, and satisfaction. Today, I give that love back to you. And forever... with my deepest gratitude, I love you all.
Most people don’t really know me. That’s why they write things about me that are mostly not true. I often cry because it bothers me. I’m also concerned about the children—every one of my children around the world. I live for them.
If people couldn’t say anything about a person except the truth, then that person’s life story would never be written.

Animals don’t fight each other out of bad intentions. They do it to survive. Those who criticize others and pick at their faults are looking for human blood, not their pain and suffering.
But I still have to move forward. I have to search for the truth within everything. I have to stand up for the message I was sent with and have patience. For the world, for the children... but have mercy on me—I’ve lost a lot of blood.

I don’t know what else I can do besides reading. But I’m not worried because I have the rest of my life to figure this out. (1974)

If you want to build a better world, look at yourself and change something within you. I’m never completely satisfied. I always wish that the world would become a better place. I hope my music can bring happiness to people. (1987)

Our children are the most beautiful, the sweetest, and the most valuable beings. And yet, every minute, at least 28 children lose their lives. Today, our children are at risk of death due to diseases, war, weapons of war, all kinds of exploitation, and neglect. Children have limited rights, and there is no one to speak for them. They have no voice in our world. God has granted me the blessing of having a voice. And now I want to use this voice to help the voiceless speak. I founded the Heal The World foundation to be the voice of the voiceless—the voice of children.

It’s hard when your private life becomes public property. Even if you feel grateful because of people’s enthusiasm for your music and your work.

When the world turned its back on me, I knew that my fans and my family were by my side. (1993)

No one should judge the things I’ve done in my life until they’ve experienced every single one of my terrible days and sleepless nights. (1995)

All of us have deep and dark secrets.
People believe anything about me. I don’t care anymore. Is that what you want to hear?
Why don’t you tell them that I’m an alien? Tell them I eat live chickens and that at night I do Voodoo dancing. They’ll believe whatever you say, because you’re a reporter. But if I say that I’m an alien and that I eat live chickens and do Voodoo dancing at night, people say: “This Michael Jackson is crazy. He’s lost it. You can’t believe a word he says.” (1995)
I believe in doing things better. You don’t get old—you get better.

I’m proud to be a showman. But you haven’t seen anything yet. (2001)
A lie wins the sprint, and the truth wins the marathon. (2003)
