Judge Halts a Lawsuit Against Michael and Marian Medical Center

Santa Maria judge Radney Melville issued an order to halt a lawsuit that a family from this area had filed against Michael Jackson and Marian Medical Center (Marian Medical Center). On February 15, 2005, during the court sessions that resulted in proving his innocence, Michael was transferred to this hospital after contracting the flu. On the same day, Manuela Gomez Day was also hospitalized due to a heart attack. Hospital officials provided her with a two-bed room and moved Michael to another room. That woman suffered another heart attack later that night, and according to her family, because of the chaotic and disturbed atmosphere created by Michael’s presence in the hospital, Manuela was denied immediate medical action and died that same night. In a lawsuit the children filed with the court in February, they blamed Michael for abusing his fame and credibility, and also blamed the hospital officials for the way they treated their mother. On Tuesday, the judge issued a delay in issuing the ruling at the request of Michael Jackson’s lawyers, and also gave the plaintiff family’s attorneys an opportunity to refile their lawsuit within a 30-day period.
