In Court: Prosecutors Request Access to Michael’s Financial Information
At a hearing held on Friday, March 11, without Michael Jackson present in court, the prosecutors requested that Michael’s financial information be provided to the court, because he may be in bankruptcy.
Prosecutor’s assistant Gordon Auchincloss said that the prosecution team believes Michael Jackson’s financial problems may have prompted him to keep the accuser’s family in Neverland, so that they would make positive statements about him by appearing in the second part of the documentary “Living with Michael Jackson.”
The prosecution believes Jackson may have $300 million in debt. He added that Jackson likely has $400 million in assets, and that his financial problems will catch up with him by the end of this year.
“All we’re looking for is brief information about Michael Jackson’s financial situation.”
Michael’s defense attorneys opposed this request.
Robert Shanker, Michael’s defense attorney, said that Auchincloss’s statements—whether they are true or not (and he believes they are not true)—are completely irrelevant to this case.
At the end of today’s court session, Ms. Raymone Bain, Michael Jackson’s spokesperson, told reporters from ABC that Michael Jackson’s delay yesterday was due to a “physical factor,” not a psychological or emotional problem. He had a back problem. He wasn’t afraid to go to court and face his accuser.
The tenth court session regarding the charges against Michael Jackson will be held on Monday, March 14, with him present, in which the accuser’s testimony from the witness stand will resume.
