Deepak Chopra, Michael Jackson’s spiritual guide, in an article in the Delhi Times about Michael
The most terrifying nightmare of Michael Jackson has ended… This is a relief for him. When the trial began, I looked into his eyes and asked, “Michael, is this (accusation) true?” He answered, “Deepak, you know what the truth is.” Michael is a strange man. But I know he isn’t guilty. Let’s not forget that Michael is an independent person. He confuses other people. He is ambiguous in terms of gender, race, and culture.
Grace, the nurse who looked after Michael’s children, also worked for me. She told me, “Michael isn’t guilty. There’s absolutely no reason to worry.”
In the past few months, I got to know Michael’s other personality—very sensitive and vulnerable. I’m happy that this time has come to an end.
I first saw Michael twenty years ago. He was in his twenties and almost famous. In fact, Michael was one of the most successful people of the 1980s. He was a very interesting boy and, for me, like a member of the family. He usually comes to my house to get Indian medicine. I was truly impressed when, during the hardest days of his trial, Michael asked me, “Deepak, how is your family doing?”
During the day, Michael practices meditation for 30 minutes. After that, he practices deep breathing exercises. He had been advised to follow this routine twice a day to stay safe from nervous attacks. Over the years, Michael and I have talked about meditation and how to cope with nervous pressure. He has told me that he usually meditates.
Michael still feels weak—both spiritually and physically. He wants to take a new approach. After the court verdict cleared him of the sexual abuse allegations, Michael and his children spent a week with me in San Diego. He is now considering staying in the Middle East. I think staying away from the United States would be good for him. Michael has been through a very stressful period, but now all of that is in the past. He told me that now he wants to focus on his career and create amazing music and films.”
