At a Library Meeting It Was Discussed: Michael’s Crime, His Simplicity, and Excessive Generosity—More Than
Michael Jackson’s criminal trial—the undeniable king of pop music—was the subject of the program “Fifth Sunday Show” at the Greer Public Library in the U.S. state of Indiana.
At this event, titled “Hunting or the Hunter,” there were three guests and a number of spectators, and the responsibility for it was also handled by the city’s cultural and historical community of Greer.
During the discussion, several spectators voted with great enthusiasm for Michael’s innocence.
Frances Hunt, a resident of Greer, said that Michael had become the victim of a group of “mentally ill people, opportunists, and self-seekers.” She continued:
“Michael’s crime is that he is too simple and too generous—far too much.”
She added that she does not believe the allegations of sexual abuse against Jackson and believes that the complainant’s mother, through this, was trying to achieve her own financial goals.
She also strongly criticized the media and said they are trying to tarnish big Black stars.
Elsewhere, she said:
“If Oprah isn’t careful, they’ll hurt her too.”
Oprah Winfrey is one of the most popular Black interview-show hosts in the United States.
In 1993, she had also arranged a ninety-minute interview with Michael Jackson at Neverland.
Most of the spectators encouraged and supported Hunt’s remarks.
Johnson, another guest on the program, said that perhaps the plan to befriend Michael’s young boys was only to make up for the childhood he had lost.
He also pointed out that Michael had become famous since the age of six, and this had deprived him of having a normal life.
In the end, he said:
“Everyone is trying to get something from him and from his life. This has destroyed his spirit.”
