Previously Unseen Home Video of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney
Before Michael Jackson became the King of Pop and purchased the entire Beatles catalog, he and Paul McCartney recorded two successful songs together: "Say Say Say" and "The Girl Is Mine." There is also a lesser-known gem called "The Man," recorded in 1983.
Paul McCartney has chosen that very song as the soundtrack for a new video featuring previously unseen footage of Michael Jackson.
Paul McCartney invited Michael Jackson to his estate in Sussex in 1981 to write "Say Say Say." During that time, Paul and his wife Linda filmed Michael, and a portion of this never-before-seen home footage has recently been released for the first time by McCartney as a promotional piece for his new album.
The footage is accompanied by audio from a 1982 interview with Paul McCartney. Paul says:
"Michael called me. I couldn't believe it was really him, so I asked, 'Who is this?' And he said, 'Michael...' Anyway... we always used to joke about that. He said he'd love to come and write a song with me. I said, 'Great.' He came to England and we sat down and worked. Well, it's not easy to sit down with a stranger and write a song, because you need to have a connection first. But I thought, this is Michael Jackson — I should give it a try. And if the song didn't turn out well, we'd just throw it away."
In the footage we see the young Michael picking flowers, petting the family dog, and horseback riding.
