Evan Ross: Michael only wanted to listen

Evan Ross has placed his feet in the footsteps of his mother, Diana Ross, and has turned to a career in singing. Of course, his name has, until now, been known more as an actor.

His mother, Diana Ross, is one of America’s prominent music figures. In 2007, she was honored by then U.S. President George W. Bush.

When Michael Jackson was a child, Diana Ross collaborated with him and introduced his shows and those of his brothers. Years later, when Evan was born, he also accompanied his mother on some visits or events with Michael.

Over the past year, Evan Ross has been busy collaborating with Dallas Austin, the producer of his songs, and his mother Diana also appeared in the video for one of the songs titled How To Live Alone.

The 26-year-old Evan married the 30-year-old singer Ashlee Simpson in 2014. They are waiting for the birth of their baby girl. Simpson has a son from her previous marriage. It seems that Evan’s entire family are all fans of Michael.

GlobalGrindTV recently sat down with Evan to talk briefly about his career and personal life. On the occasion of the sixth anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, the interviewer asked him to share a memory of the King of Pop, and Evan had an interesting story to tell.

He said:

“Michael is one of my favorite people in the whole world. He was incredibly talented and extraordinary. He always used to call me. One time I was in a club in New York when he called. He said, ‘Hey, Applehead.’ That’s how we used to call each other—Applehead, or Two Two. He said, ‘Hi, what’s up?’ I said, ‘I’m in a club—I can’t hear your voice.’ He said, ‘No, no—let me hear the club’s sound.’ So I put the phone on the table so he could hear the music that was playing. He always knew very well what kind of music people were listening to in every era and what their tastes were. He was unmatched. He was one of the kindest men—he never forgot anything.’”

The last line Evan said in this interview was: “He loved my mother more than anything.”

For many people, the love and friendship between Michael and Diana Ross has always been shrouded in ambiguity, and many stories were made about it. The stories and rumors went so far that some people called Evan Ross Michael’s son. Michael himself has said that on the day Diana Ross married Arne Næss Jr. (Evan’s father), which took place in 1986, many expected him to be overwhelmed with sadness. At the time, Diana was 42 and Michael was 28. Michael had spoken of Diana Ross as his first love in his teenage years. As a child, he had lived with Diana for a period of time and had received lessons from her. During that time, Diana played the role of a mother for the man who would become the King of Pop in the future.

According to Michael Jackson’s will, if his mother Catherine was unable to do so or had passed away, Diana Ross would be the guardian of his three children.
