Brooke Shields Writes About Michael Jackson in Her Book
Brooke Shields, the renowned actress who has performed in front of the camera since the age of 11 months, writes about her childhood, her mother, the men in her life, and her unique relationship with the King of Pop in her new autobiography titled There Was a Little Girl.
Brooke says that she and Michael Jackson became close friends from their very first meeting. She writes that their relationship was purely a friendship — not a romance.
"Together, we were like two children. From the very first day, each saw a part of themselves in the other. We brought each other calm and safety. When we were together, we were immune to the crazy world that surrounded us. We'd make fun of people's stupidity and watch movies and eat candy."
"Of course we loved each other, but it was never a romantic relationship. He would ask me about love and my relationships. No one else talked to him about those things."
Brooke says that Michael was inexperienced and scared when it came to such matters.
"He wanted us to never be apart. This was something people couldn't understand. It was easier for them to mock it and cast it in a bad light. In their eyes we were an unusual couple, but to us it was the most natural and simple form of friendship."
Michael even gave her a ring that many interpreted as a wedding ring, but Brooke says it was a symbol of friendship between the two. Michael had said: "This sparkles, and so do you."
Brooke says that the older Michael got, the more he became sexually distant from her, though he remained curious about her past relationships.
Brooke says the depth of their friendship stemmed from the fact that each of them knew the other wanted nothing from them.
They would go together to obscure, low-key restaurants and share their frustrations: "People are crazy!"
