Mr. Brainwash Talks About 'Xscape' Art
Tuesday, 13th May 2014
Legendary visual artist Mr. Brainwash has created an iconic piece of artwork of Michael Jackson, which comes as a fold out poster in the deluxe edition of the new 'Xscape' album.
VIBE Magazine, which has been a long time supporter of Michael, and who Michael did a number of exclusive photo shoots for, has now made Mr. Brainwash's new artwork the cover for its digital cover as it celebrates Michael's everlasting music.
In the below clip, Mr. Brainwash talks creating the Michael Jackson piece, and reflects on memories with the King of Pop.
Michael Jackson is the definition of iconic. So depicting the King of Pop on his stellar second posthumous LP, Xscape, was a task reserved for the heavyweights. Legendary visual artist Mr. Brainwash answered the call, and while his painting/stenciled portrayal was not chosen as the final album artwork, it's now revived as VIBE's digital cover, celebrating Michael's everlasting music.

Michael Jackson's posthumous Xscape album is truly a treat.
Out tomorrow (May 13), the nostalgic-yet-modern LP unites the likes of Timbaland, Stargate, Rodney Jerkins and Justin Timberlake to update unreleased tracks from the MJ archives.
To celebrate the release, VIBE unearths an art piece commissioned to Mr. Brainwash for the album cover — one that was ultimately not chosen for the final project — and rounds up the album collaborators for an in-depth making-of piece.
