Michael Jackson Estate Files Lawsuit Over Victory Tour Photos
The Michael Jackson Estate has filed a lawsuit against the sale of a number of photographs from Michael Jackson and his brothers' Victory Tour.
Last month, Premiere Props put up for auction a collection of two hundred published and unseen photographs from the Victory Tour, along with their negatives and publication rights. The collection also included images from Michael's childhood with the Jackson 5 through the album era.
The Michael Jackson Estate claims the photographer who captured the Victory Tour images was employed by Michael Jackson's company, and therefore the photographs belong to the Estate. The value of these photographs has been declared at £1,176.
The Estate also claims that the selling company misled the public by stating that buyers would also acquire the rights to publish the images. This drove up the price of the photographs, as buyers believed they would be able to sell the images and profit from them in the future.
The Michael Jackson Estate is seeking to receive the proceeds from the sale of these photographs and to prevent this company from selling any further Michael Jackson-related items.
