Corey Feldman: My relationship with Michael Jackson was the healthiest one I ever had
Corey Scott Feldman, one of the actors who had formed a friendly relationship with Michael Jackson during his teenage years, has recently revealed in his memoir that he was repeatedly abused when he was a teenager. He emphasized that his friendship with Michael Jackson was the healthiest relationship he had ever had. His abusers were people active in the Hollywood film industry, and they are still working in that industry.
Corey Feldman rose to fame at the age of thirteen with the film Gremlins. During his teen years, he chased after men who could be good role models for him, but those men often turned out to be sexual deviants and abusers. Feldman then fell into addiction and became addicted to heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and crack.
In his new book, Coreyography, released to the market in October 2013, Feldman reveals that adult men in the industry told him that sexual relationships between adults and teenage boys in Hollywood were very normal.
Feldman: “I tell the parents of children who are active in this industry that my only advice is: get your kids out of Hollywood as soon as possible and let them have a normal life.”
He says sexual abuse of children is Hollywood’s biggest problem.
Feldman writes that more than twenty years ago, when he was questioned at age 22 as a possible witness in the case of a lawsuit against Michael Jackson, he gave the police the names of the people who had abused him, but they were so involved with Michael Jackson that they didn’t pay attention to what he said. In 1993, Michael was accused of sexually abusing boys, and prosecutor Tom Sneddon questioned all children or adults who had spent time with Michael as kids or at Neverland, his private ranch—of course, no evidence against Michael was ever found, and no child ever said anything against him.
In the recorded footage of Feldman’s interrogation that Radar Online obtained, Feldman’s voice can be heard saying, “I was raped,” and then naming the abusers, but the interrogators don’t care and continue with more questions about Michael Jackson. The Santa Barbara Police Department has not commented on Feldman’s allegations. The names Feldman mentions have been removed from the audio file released by Radar Online.
In his book, Feldman points to Corey Haim, who—like Feldman—became famous and a star as a teenager, as another victim of rape. The names Feldman gives for his abusers are said to be: Ron, Tony, Bernham, and Crimson. These names are all aliases. Feldman says the publisher removed the real names from the manuscript for legal reasons. Apparently, Michael Jackson is the only name that can be used freely in any book and accused of anything without worrying about the law.
Corey Feldman and Corey Haim—old friends and co-stars—played together in 2007 in the series The Two Coreys. Haim died in 2010 after a long addiction.
The first meeting between Feldman and Haim happened in 1987 on the set of The Lost Boys. On that day, Haim told Feldman how, a year earlier, on the set of Lucas, one of the adult men had told him that sexual relationships between men and young boys were completely normal, and that everyone did it. That man then took Haim to a predetermined location and raped him. Feldman says that man is now one of the most successful men in the industry.
Feldman and Haim appeared together in a total of nine films and one television series.
Feldman also reveals his unhappy childhood in this book. His mother was a Playboy magazine model who published nude photos of women. At the age of four, she dyed her son’s hair blonde and had terrifying strictness about the child’s weight, feeding him diet pills that Feldman describes as torture. His father also only came around when he was in a good mood. Feldman writes that at age seven, he became the breadwinner for his family by playing in commercial ads. His mother wouldn’t let him go bike riding because if he got hurt, he would miss out on acting in the ads and the family’s income would stop. When he was seven, his mother told him, “You now have responsibilities.” When Corey was fired from one of the projects due to bad behavior, his mother became extremely angry and attacked him “like a ferocious animal,” cursed at him, and threatened to kill him.
Feldman was looking for a role model among men. Steven Spielberg, who had chosen him for Gremlins, was one of the few friends who didn’t exploit him.
At the height of his youth, after finding his mother’s hidden cocaine, Feldman fell into severe addiction, but Haim’s addiction was even worse than his.
Feldman said he left his mother because she lacked stability and stayed with his father. Although his father had more stability than his mother, he was a controlling person and, like his mother, used Feldman’s money. In the end, the assistant his father hired for Corey introduced him to new drugs, and then raped him orally.
“I thought everything was my fault, and so I couldn’t say anything. I was scared. I desperately wanted him to leave me alone, but I was worried about losing a friend.”
The friendship between Feldman and this assistant—whom he calls Ron—lasted for several years, and during those years other men also tried to take advantage of him.
“Over the years, I slowly realized that I had put myself in the middle of monsters.”
In the meantime, the only safe place Feldman found was with Michael Jackson. Feldman was thirteen, and Michael Jackson was one of the adults that Corey, like many other children, admired as a role model.
“I was shattered, disgusted, and destroyed. I needed to get back to normal life, so I called Michael Jackson.”
Spielberg arranged this introduction. He knew Michael was the person who could help Corey.
Feldman: “Michael Jackson’s world became my happy place. Being next to Michael Jackson brought innocence back to me. When I was with him, I felt like I was a 10-year-old child.”
In this book, Feldman emphasizes that Michael Jackson never abused him and never touched him.
After the release of his book, in an interview with Wendy on the Wendy television show, when asked whether Michael Jackson had ever touched him, he changed his facial expression and said: “God knows that no, not unless he was being friendly and patting my shoulder and saying, ‘You’ll be the next Marlon Brando.’” Feldman also said he loved Michael Jackson.
Feldman also defended Michael again on a radio program, saying that he was without a doubt in love with children and that nothing else was in the middle of it. He said they tried to use against him what Michael loved and worked for the most: the idea of building a better world for children and pure love for them. Feldman said he could never imagine how difficult life in those circumstances must have been for Michael, but because of the situation he is in now and the mockery and abuse he has faced for exposing his secret, he can understand Michael’s situation to some extent.
Feldman said: “Michael changed the lives of many children and helped them progress. Through being friends with them, he became their teacher and mentor, helping them overcome their problems and find the path to victory and success. I was a 12 (13)-year-old child whose family didn’t want me, and my classmates also ran away from me. Michael would sit for hours and talk to me and listen to what I said.”
While Corey Feldman was dealing with his addiction and his sexual abusers, Michael Jackson was the only person who listened and tried to help him overcome his problems. Feldman never revealed his secret to Michael or to anyone else. He only talked to Michael about the abuse he faced from his friends and family. In fact, Feldman first revealed his secret during police questioning at age 22. Corey Haim also revealed, in the second part of their shared television series that aired in 2007, that he had been sexually abused as a teenager, but he didn’t name his abusers.

Michael hasn’t said anything about his relationship with Feldman, but some say the relationship ended in 2001 after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York, when Michael left the city without Feldman. Michael had gone to New York to perform concerts for the 30th anniversary of his career with his children.
In his book, Corey dedicates a chapter to Michael Jackson and explains why his friendship with him fell apart in a different way. Corey says that almost everyone around Michael was betraying him, and that made Michael suspicious of everyone. Feldman says that people around Michael were speaking ill of him to Michael, and that’s why Michael became suspicious of Corey.
Over the years, Corey Feldman has shown conflicting feelings about himself, which may stem from his bitter experiences as a victim of sexual assault. Years ago, with a cutting tone, he said in defense of Michael against allegations of sexual abuse:
“The only thing Michael Jackson did wrong was that he left the teenage boys who were attached to him and dependent on him, and he left them alone.”
Feldman claimed that by leaving him, Michael broke his heart and ruined his life. Michael was the only person beside whom Feldman had peace and security.
Feldman had explained his words like this: “For a teenager, it’s deadly to talk to Michael today and then, when he calls him the next day, find out that Michael’s phone number has changed.”
In reality, Michael and Feldman’s friendship had lasted for eighteen years, until 2001. After that, Feldman, feeling hurt that Michael had left him as Michael himself said, no longer answered his phone calls. Feldman expected that Michael, as the most famous person in the world and with all his busy schedule and many problems, would have enough free time to spend with this old friend.
After Michael’s death, he dedicated his concert to him and said that his spirit was watching their show. After the concert ended, he told People magazine:
“I didn’t think I could pull off this performance tonight. Honestly, it was very difficult for me. I’m in shock. I still haven’t been able to come to terms with his death. One moment I’m okay, and then the reality of his death overcomes me again—like, ‘Wait, did he really go away from us already?’”
One year after Michael’s death, Feldman apologized to him like this:
“Michael and I were very close friends for 18 years. But for eight years, our relationship was cut off. When he cut his relationship with me, I held a grudge. Eight years passed and then he suddenly left. During that time he tried to contact me... but I didn’t. But what I learned is that forgiveness is the most important thing in the world. I can never escape the fact that I lost the chance to say goodbye to him, to hold him in my arms, and to tell him how much I loved him. So I want to use this opportunity now and say: Michael, I forgive you. I hope you forgive me too. I love you.”
