Petition text

Although Michael Jackson has always been one of the most influential and kind-hearted people on this earth, his achievements have always been hidden behind controversies and lies by foreign media. Even when dealing with artists who truly had addiction or moral indiscretions, they are always treated with respect; but when it comes to Michael Jackson, the main issue becomes his skin color, false accusations, plastic surgery, personal matters, and so on. These discussions have kept this valuable artist unknown. When it comes to Michael Jackson in the media, nobody talks about his donating the proceeds from three world tours to charities, nobody appreciates his sacrifices and services to children around the world. Michael Jackson was one of the supporters of the victims of the war in Bosnia, but no one says that his help saved the lives of thousands of innocent people. Michael provided poor children with opportunities for education and training; he helped many children with cancer; and he always supported research projects to fight AIDS. On his Neverland Ranch, he hosted poor, sick, and disabled children, who could enjoy the zoo for free, have fun at its amusement park, and watch films in its cinema hall.

Unfortunately, foreign media—perhaps for reasons such as hatred, jealousy, and the like—have always reduced Michael Jackson’s great character to that of a man with mental and psychological problems, a freak, a criminal, and at best, an uneducated and naive person. But we know the truth about Michael Jackson: he studied extensively, had good business instincts, was a very respectful and humble human being, had immense intelligence, and his heart beat for society.

Dear friends on the TV network Manoto

First, thank you for your efforts. Since this network is very popular in Iran, we Michael Jackson fans ask you to produce a rich and meaningful special program about Michael Jackson. This network has honored many artists in its various programs, but it has never done justice to Michael Jackson—the king of pop music, the best stage performer in history, the best dancer, the best-selling musician, the most successful artist in the field of programming, and the kindest artist of the era.

We know that Manoto TV is aware of Michael Jackson’s artistic and human stature; if not, it wouldn’t have honored his memory on his birthday. However, we ask this network to help us further in introducing the truth about Michael Jackson to the people of Iran, who have always been bombarded with misinformation, by making a precise and content-rich program based on thorough studies and accurate research.

To our great regret, we have witnessed several times the broadcasting of incorrect information and insults toward Michael Jackson’s character—and therefore toward the understanding of his fans—by some of the presenters of this network. We hope that such things do not repeat in the future and do not cause harm or distress to Persian-speaking fans of this legend, nor damage his character and legacy.

With thanks
The family of Michael Jackson fans in Iran
