Dubai responds to Randy Jackson’s comments about Paris
Yesterday, Randy Jackson took to Twitter and spoke publicly about the mental state of his niece, Paris, and was criticized by Debbie Rowe, Paris’s mother.
Paris attempted suicide in early June (News) and was taken to a hospital and then to an undisclosed location so she could go through her recovery period. Debbie said that Paris cannot come to terms with her father’s death and has no love for staying alive.
Randy Jackson, Michael’s younger brother and Paris’s uncle, along with Janet, Jermaine, and Rebbie, kept Catherine Jackson away from Michael’s children last summer, in order to force her to take action against the Michael Jackson Foundation and to make family matters public via Twitter—thereby dragging Michael’s children into a media controversy and domestic chaos. With no other option, Paris announced her legal guardian’s disappearance on Twitter. Randy and Jermaine denied any wrongdoing, and Prince warned them not to lie any further, or he would reveal facts. Prince also said that his father had warned him not to trust so many people in the family.
Randy has called his brother Michael addicted to medication and does not recognize his will, which leaves all of his wealth to his children—Prince, Paris, and Blanket.
On Tuesday, Randy again brought family issues to Twitter and disrupted Paris’s privacy by talking about her mental health. He wrote:
“I don’t like that Paris is still being kept in that building. That’s not right. She’s been there for a long time. She’s not a mental patient. There’s no reason for her to be hospitalized away from the family for this long. I’m disgusted by the fact that she’ll probably be there on my brother’s birthday as well. This isn’t good. There’s something going on under a bowl under another bowl—something that I don’t like, and I’m scared for her. Mental hospitals sometimes make you think you’re crazy when you’re not. Sometimes they make things worse. I intend to address this. Wait.”
He also apologized for typographical errors:
“I have a problem with anything smaller than piano keys. I inherited Big Joe Jackson’s big fingers.”
In response, Debbie Rowe wrote that Randy Jackson is talking nonsense: “As usual, this time too you’ve received seriously incorrect information.”
Debbie: “He doesn’t know what he’s saying. He doesn’t even know where Paris is. She’s not in a mental hospital.”
Debbie says Randy is angry because no one in the Jackson family is willing to testify for him in the A.J. court case, since his statements are unrelated to the Jacksons’ case. Randy emphasized that he will testify in court because of his brother, but it’s unclear what good his claims—that his brother had a drug addiction—would do for the case of Catherine Jackson and his brother Michael.
In response to someone who defended Randy, Debbie wrote: “Wow, you’re the first Randy Jackson fan I’ve seen.” Elsewhere, she thanked someone who had asked that the family issues not be brought up on Twitter. Debbie also has no love for Joe Jackson, Michael’s father. As a child, Michael was beaten by his father and never had a good relationship with him.
In response to people on Twitter who asked about Paris’s condition, Debbie wrote only: “No.” She was not willing to talk about her daughter, but said: “She will never return to Twitter.” And in reply to her critics, she said: “She doesn’t need your support on Twitter.”
Of course, Randy Jackson is not the only member of the Jackson family who doesn’t respect the privacy of his nieces. Last month, when TMZ paparazzi went after Jermaine Jackson, Paris’s uncle, on the street and asked about the condition of the 15-year-old girl, he criticized Paris and even pointed the finger at her guardians, saying they should have been stricter so that Paris would obey the rules. Jermaine did not say whether he considers the negligence to be Catherine, T.J., or even Michael’s fault.
“Paris doesn’t respect the family rules. Paris has to learn that she can’t do whatever she wants. Paris has to know that there are certain boundaries for teenagers.”

Jermaine, meanwhile, has seven children with several women. Having converted to Islam years ago and being a married man, he says his wife has allowed him to take a second wife. Jermaine and Randy each have two and three children, respectively, with a woman. The two share a common wife and her children lived with Catherine Jackson after the divorce for years, and Michael provided financial support. Randy, like Jermaine, does not pay his children’s monthly allowance, and the Michael Jackson Foundation covers this expense. Jermaine was even taken to court for not paying child support.
Jermaine had also previously criticized Michael’s children, calling them “kids,” and without accepting any wrongdoing regarding last year’s family controversy, he blamed Prince and Paris and their use of Twitter.
Meanwhile, other uncles of Paris—Jackie, Marlon, and Tito—have shown her love and support. At the end of June, at the red carpet premiere of Michael’s show in Las Vegas (News), they told reporters:
“She’ll be okay. She’s in the process of getting better. We love her. She’s been through a lot—she lost her father. That’s hard for a teenager. But she’s strong.”
On the other hand, Genevieve Jackson, Randy’s 23-year-old daughter, was recently a guest on Pierce Morgan’s television show. Morgan asked about Paris’s situation.
Genevieve: “It’s been very difficult for these three people (Paris and her brothers), because (Michael) was their world—their father. I was studying in my second year of high school during the second trial (Oops! I mean the 2005 trial—Michael was only tried once). It was very painful for me because people were asking me questions. I can’t imagine what she had to deal with at school and what other kids were going through.”
When Pierce asked what Michael taught them, Genevieve said: “He taught them to look around and listen, to pay attention. They’re very, very smart kids. He taught them to stay strong, to have the skin of a rhinoceros.”
