Michael Jackson Foundation sues British tabloids for publishing fake FBI files

Regarding the publication of fake FBI files about Michael Jackson in British print tabloids, Daily Mirror and Sunday People you can read. The Michael Jackson Foundation has not ignored this insult and condemned it in two statements. Under defamation law, claims about the deceased are generally not pursued, which is why tabloids in Britain and the U.S. have always printed false stories about the dead—but this has not stopped the Michael Jackson Foundation from suing these two publications.

On Friday, the Foundation filed a complaint against the two publications Daily Mirror and Sunday People with the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) in the UK. The Commission now must conduct investigations into the conduct of these two publications. In addition to these two tabloids, Daily Mail had also published the fake story, and the Foundation has not yet taken a position against it. The source of the story was the Daily Mirror newspaper’s Sunday People special issue.

The Foundation’s complaint comes while, in its second statement, they had advised that it would be better to ignore British tabloids—but only a few days later their view changed completely, and the reason is unclear.
