Mark Lester’s Claim: I’m the Father of Michael Jackson’s Children!

Mark Lester, 51, who shone as a child in the role of Oliver Twist, was a close friend of Michael Jackson for years. Immediately after Michael’s death, he claimed that he is the father of the three children. He also calls himself their godfather, but Paris has rejected his claim.

In the middle of the AEG trial, Lester seized the opportunity to repeat his claim once again. Last month, in an interview with a local newspaper and the gossip-print British tabloid The Mirror, he said he wouldn’t agree to a DNA test without the children’s permission. “When they reach legal age—which isn’t that far away—if they ask me to do this test, I’ll do it.”

Lester and Michael met when they were teenagers, after Lester became famous for playing Oliver in the 1968 film. They were friends for 30 years—though only in name—because the moment Michael passed away, Lester went after the temptation of money in order to try to take possession of Michael’s children.

Lester says his teenage daughter looks very much like Paris. But Harriet Lester is a white girl with blonde hair, while Paris is biracial with dark hair.

Since 2009, after he raised his claim and the Jackson family brought it up, Lester has been kept away from Michael’s children. They no longer answer the calls from this so-called old friend.

Lester: “I just want to reconnect with them and be their godfather again. It’s cruel that our connection has been cut off. This isn’t something Michael wanted.”

He says he last met Michael’s children at Michael’s memorial ceremony in July 2009.

In an August 2009 interview with the newspaper News of the World (the paper was shut down in 2011 following a controversial scandal), Lester said that in 1996 he donated his sperm to Michael at Michael’s request because Michael didn’t have fertile sperm. But after Michael’s death, the doctor who performed the autopsy reported that Michael’s sperm was healthy and active. That means Lester’s claim is rejected.

Lester’s claim also contradicts what he had said earlier. He had called the claims of some people who didn’t believe Michael was the father of his children “nonsense.”

Lester’s wife—who divorced him and is the mother of his children—rejects the claim that Lester is the father of Michael’s children. She says Lester is crazy. She says she met Michael after the children were born, in 2001, and that she hadn’t known him closely before that. She said:

“The moment Lester tasted the flavor of Jackson fame, he went crazy.”

Brian Oxman, Michael Jackson’s dismissed lawyer, says: “I’ve always heard from Michael that he is the (biological) father of the children, and I believe what he said.”

Roger Friedman also responded to Lester’s claim:

“I’m shocked that he’s still repeating this claim. It’s ridiculous. His daughter doesn’t have the slightest resemblance to Paris and Prince. I can’t imagine what his family thinks about his madness. Lester has never seen Debbie Row (the mother of Michael’s children). When Michael was alive, he—or anyone else—didn’t make any claims. In England, he worked as a masseur. I don’t know if he’s still doing that, but he’s definitely connected with someone who knows how to lie. In the film Oliver, his character asks for more food: ‘Please, sir, can I have some more?’ Please, Mark Lester—you can’t have any more than that.”

Friedman said he had published an interview with Lester on January 9, 2004. Michael spent New Year’s Eve with Lester:

“When Michael and his brothers were performing concerts in Britain in the early 1970s, Michael wanted to see Lester. Lester told me that Michael was looking for someone with a background like his—a child star.”

He confirms that a condition caused Michael’s skin to turn white: “His pigments disappeared. Being in the sun is painful for him. A large part of his body has lost its color.”

Lester was in Neverland a few days after the release of Martin Bashir’s documentary (Living with Michael Jackson) last February. He was also with Michael in Las Vegas last October, where Jackson signed memorabilia for his fans in a bookstore.

Lester, father of three daughters and one son, told me that he completely believes Michael is innocent of the sexual allegations and that he supports him.

Lester said Michael is angry about the allegations and believes the family he supported betrayed him. But Jackson doesn’t watch television. Lester says: “He doesn’t care what people say in the media. America is a free country.”

Last February, he had seen the complainant and his family in Neverland: “They were guests there, there were many children. Many people lived there.”

Michael also doesn’t care what people say about the time he spends with children.

“Michael shouldn’t have made this public.* He can be his own worst enemy.”

“He can turn a 45-year-old man into a 12-year-old child. He told me that when he writes songs, he’s a 12-year-old boy. He gets inspiration from the kids. He’s like Peter Pan—he’s been like this since he was fifteen.”

Lester says Michael will return to Neverland one day, but not now. He hasn’t missed it yet, and he feels that Neverland has been violated.”
