Immortal: The World’s No. 1 Tour
Michael Jackson was supposed to conquer the world with the This Is It tour, but nearly four years after his death, the Immortal tour—working with his Foundation and Cirque du Soleil—has done it, placing Michael’s name at the top of the world’s best tours list.
Starting in November 2011, this tour has been the best-selling and most popular tour in America and around the world. Immortal—also fittingly named “Immortal”—is currently entertaining audiences in Europe. It has caused a stir in many countries, including Russia and Switzerland, and has become Europe’s number one tour. The European leg of the Immortal tour began last fall (October 12), when the group had already completed a year of fruitful performances in North America and Canada.
From November 9 to February 15, in Russia and Switzerland alone, the tour earned more than $18 million and attracted over 145,000 spectators. In second place among European tours, with a big gap, Sir Elton John stands with $2.6 million in earnings. Third place belongs to the Jonas Brothers, who made $2.1 million from their tour around Europe.
Immortal, which brings Michael Jackson’s unmatched dancing and songs to the stage, will continue its performances until the end of 2014. Therefore, more successes are expected for Immortal—especially since soon there will be the opening of the show “Michael Jackson One” in Las Vegas.
