Everland Is Being Built: A Home for Michael Jackson's Orphaned Children in Africa

You have read many times on this page about the Michael Jackson Legacy foundation. Fans of Michael, by forming a group called Michael Jackson's Legacy, are working to establish a home named «Everland» for orphaned and poor children in Liberia in Africa. Dr. Patrick Tracy, a former doctor of Michael, and Nite Giorgio, a painter whose works were published in the book «Opas Michael Jackson», support this foundation. Last spring, a march was held in London to support this project. Four months ago, on November 23—16 months after the foundation was established—the efforts and hard work paid off, and during a ceremony the Everland building in Liberia was unveiled. Everland is now home to fifty poor and orphaned children. Of course, the building is still unfinished, and with help from fans it will soon be ready to house the children.

This project, in which nearly 300 fans of Michael from 27 countries around the world took part, has so far raised close to $43,000. This is the first time that fans of a star, relying on collective support, have been able to achieve a charitable goal. And these are none other than the fans of the man whose heart beat for the children of the world, and who paid a heavy price for his love and humanity. Michael Jackson never asked his fans for anything; he only said, "Help me support the children of the world." Michael believed that even if we can help one child, we have taken a big step. In his absence, the fans have continued his path.

On the day the building was unveiled, the volunteer group transported the children from school to the site by bus. Photographers and reporters were present, and gifts were also distributed among the children. Also, the storybook of Michael Jackson titled Ever After was distributed among the children at school.
