New Developments in the AEG Case: Questioning Michael’s Children and Using Evidence From the 2005 Court Case

On Thursday, Paris Jackson, Michael’s 15-year-old daughter, was questioned during the lawsuit case against AEG.

Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother and the legal guardian of his children, along with three of Michael’s children, blame the company for his death and have been suing the company for a long time.

This week, Katherine’s lawyer described the company’s attorneys’ behavior toward Michael’s children during their questioning as harsh and without order.

The company has also requested that Michael’s youngest child, the 11-year-old Blanket, be questioned as well, but his doctor warned that this could cause psychological harm to the boy. Although Blanket will not be called to the witness stand to testify, the company insists on questioning the little boy. At the time of Michael’s death, Blanket was only 7 years old.

Katherine’s lawyers also said that during the questioning of Michael’s 16-year-old son, the company acted in a way meant to upset him, which caused concern for his guardians and lawyers: “They asked Prince irrelevant and personal questions—for example, whether he uses text messages and Twitter. They also asked him about his teachers, the cities where he has lived, and his new profession (acting). Prince said that during his father’s lifetime, he was actively involved in matters related to him.”

The lawyers also criticized the questioning sessions of Katherine, saying that the company’s attorneys interrogated her for 9 hours over 3 days, and are now trying their chance for a fourth time. The lawyers told the judge that these questions could have been wrapped up in two to three hours.

On Thursday, the judge also ruled that the company may use documents from the 2005 case of Michael’s alleged charges in the current case. The company’s lawyers are now seeking to use as leverage Michael’s history of being dependent on sedatives and painkillers.

Meanwhile, a New York doctor named David Slavit has refused to answer questions about the health certificate he signed for Michael just a few months before Michael’s death in 2009. This doctor was hired by AEG to ensure Michael’s health, since he was supposed to perform the This Is It tour. The doctor’s certificate, which showed that Michael was in full health, was given to Lloyds London in order to insure the tour. The company has asked the court to force Dr. Slavit to provide explanations.

It is worth noting that for some time, rumors had been circulating that AEG wanted to prove a father-child relationship between Michael and his children. This rumor, reported by many websites, is not true. However, this news led to the topic of adoption of Michael’s children being raised again in the media. Among those people is the well-known Roger Friedman, who claims that Michael is not their biological father because the children’s skin is not black. This is while Michael’s children’s mother is white, and Michael’s children are mixed-race and their skin is not completely white either. In addition, Prince has signs of vitiligo that he inherited from Michael in various parts of his body, including his fingers, armpits, and throat. Paris also wrote on Twitter that she is sure she was not adopted.
