Whitney Houston’s Mother: She Wanted to Marry Michael Jackson

Whitney Houston passed away last winter. Her 79-year-old mother has kept her daughter’s memory alive in the book “My Story of Love, Loss, and the Night the Music Stopped.”

In part of this book, she recalls a day when young Whitney decided to step onto the road to fame:

“We were watching Michael Jackson on TV. Whitney turned to me and said, ‘Mom, I’m going to marry this boy. I’m going to be a star.’”

Whitney Houston eventually became a huge star, but her unsuccessful marriage to Bobby Brown led her to become addicted to drugs, which ultimately caused her death. According to her mother, she had grown tired of the entertainment industry and planned to leave her career. Due to drug use, Whitney lost the full range of her voice. Her mother says she suffers and is angry that Whitney died alone.
