Michael Jackson’s Immortal Tour extended through the end of 2014

Since opening in October 2011, Michael Jackson’s Immortal Tour has achieved many successes, becoming the top-selling tour in the United States and winning praise from critics. In this tour, Cirque du Soleil acrobats, in collaboration with musicians and Michael’s collaborators and some of the best dancers in the world, bring beautiful and captivating performances to the stage based on Michael Jackson’s songs and artistry.

This tour was supposed to stop after traveling to different cities around the world and, in early 2013, become a permanent resident show at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. But the tour has been so successful that it is going to be extended for another year. As a result, the Immortal Tour will continue through the end of 2014, going to South America and Asia, and then returning to North America and Europe to repeat its shows in the cities where it has been most successful.

Recently revealed details say that Cirque du Soleil will travel from Montreal, Canada to Las Vegas on February 18 this year to continue rehearsals at the Mandalay Bay hotel. Michael Jackson’s show will go on stage in Las Vegas on May 23 this year as a test run, and on June 29 we will see its official opening.

Daniel Lamar, president of Cirque du Soleil, says the Immortal Tour gave them the experience of knowing that people enjoy hearing Michael Jackson’s full songs, not a mix of just a few of his popular tracks. Therefore, the Las Vegas shows will be completely different from what is performed on the tour. However, as in the tour, they will not use Michael Jackson impersonators. Also, none of the tour’s artists will be used for the Las Vegas shows, and Cirque du Soleil has fresh new people on board. Of course, Jamie King, the tour director, will be working in Las Vegas alongside a new artistic director with Cirque du Soleil.

Lamar says the Michael Jackson shows in Las Vegas are from the ground up different from the Immortal Tour and all Cirque du Soleil’s previous projects, and people have never seen anything like it. These shows will use the most advanced acrobatic moves we have never seen before.
