Michael Jackson’s Academic Record

After finishing high school, Michael Jackson was never able to go to university due to his busy schedule. Thirsty for learning, he built a library of seven hundred thousand books on his Neverland ranch — (Source: Larry Nimmer) — ranging from art to old Hollywood books, child-rearing, and various religions.

In 1988, Michael received an honorary doctorate degree from Fisk University in recognition of his humanitarian services and charity work. He had promised his little daughter that after the This Is It tour ended, he would study in the field of fine arts, but before he could make that old dream come true, he said goodbye in the summer of 2009.

Michael spent most of his school years at home. The Jackson 5 tours, in which he had been a member since childhood, did not allow him to attend school. However, he was able to study for a while at Gardner Elementary School, Montclair Middle School, and Cal Prep High School — and he was always a good student. Especially because of his good manners and his literature, he was always popular among the girls at school.

The image above is his end-of-year report card for the ninth grade at Montclair School. He earned the top rank in the year and got excellent grades. He got an A in math, and interestingly, his grade in French was almost equal to the grade he got in English. His A in history shows that from the beginning he had been interested in studying history.

He was the most creative, the best-dressed, and the most shy student at Cal Prep, but his classmates didn’t have much hope for his success. In the 1976 yearbook of this high school, he had voted in the “above” titles, but the most successful student was someone else. Still, it’s okay — in 2006, Michael was recognized by Guinness World Records as the most successful showman and entertainer in the history of the world.
