Auction of Michael Jackson’s Medical Records

U.S. law recognizes the need to protect people’s medical records and documentation, but not after death. And if you’re Michael Jackson, even photos taken of your injuries will have buyers. This has nothing to do with his art or popularity. No fan would get excited about watching such photos—but it will definitely make money for some.

That’s how the King of Pop’s medical records related to the 1984 Pepsi fire incident (read more) have been nominated for sale, and photos related to his injuries have been posted on a public website. Because the photos are painful to look at, we are not uploading them on this page, but they are available at here.

The Pristine Auctions house, based in Arizona, wrote on its website:

"The medical records from the hospital where Michael Jackson was treated include some noteworthy items. Doctors’ handwritten notes and never-before-seen photos of the injuries to his head, taken on the day of the incident in the hospital’s emergency room."

The complete list of the medications Michael used to treat this severe burn, as well as the settlement agreement with Pepsi that led to receiving compensation from the company, are among these documents.

Michael spent the $1.5 million compensation he received from the company to establish a specialized unit for treating burn patients at the Brotman hospital. In his honor, this unit was named the Michael Jackson Burn Center.

The auction of his medical records once again proves that Michael Jackson certainly had no hiding place.
