Michael Jackson Was a Guest of Denzel Washington
Dannyel Clawson from Grantland has recently conducted an interview with Denzel Washington, the 57-year-old American director and actor. In the interview, Washington shared the memory of the day Michael Jackson came to his home and ate all of their fried chicken.
Dannyel: What’s the story with Michael Jackson?
Denzel: Michael Jackson ate fried chicken at my house.
Dannyel: How was it?
Denzel: It was cool.
Dannyel: You invited him to your house?
Denzel: He came to our house. I’ve forgotten the reason—maybe my wife invited him, and he came. I thought to myself, “He can eat!”… he was heading into town.
Dannyel: What year was it? The years when Bubbles the chimp would accompany him or…?
Denzel: We lived in our old house. So it must be before 1999. We left that house in ’99.
Dannyel: Besides his overeating, do you have another memory?
Denzel: I just remember my kids coming down the stairs and staring at him. They were frozen right there [Denzel imitates their astonished faces]. I told them, “Say hello,” and they said, “Hello, Mr. Jackson… very good; goodbye.””
[Dannyel laughs]
Denzel: That’s how it was… “Aaaaaa… Michael Jackson is our neighbor!””
