Former Michael Jackson assistant sues AEG

Michael Amir Williams, Michael Jackson’s personal assistant who worked for him until his death and also testified in the King of Pop murder trial, has recently filed a lawsuit against AEG, the company responsible for organizing Michael’s final tour, This Is It.

In this lawsuit, he says that he and his colleagues—and even Conrad Murray, the doctor accused of killing Michael Jackson—were hired by the company. He also points out that after Michael’s death, they did not receive any payment from the company. According to Amir, these people were supposed to accompany Michael on the London tour. Amir said that if the tour had taken place, they would have been paid $7.5 million.

Amir’s key claim in this lawsuit is the hiring of Murray by the company. The company has always denied this claim, and therefore in the Michael Jackson murder case it has considered itself free of any wrongdoing.

In the complaint form, Amir Williams wrote: "The company hired heart doctor Dr. Conrad Murray because Michael had physical difficulties keeping up with the fast-paced tour process and its scheduling plans."

During the two months before Michael’s death, Murray would put him to sleep every night with the drug propofol. Michael ultimately died on June 25 as a result of this drug injected by Murray.

In his lawsuit, Williams states: "The company ignored Murray’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, and only cared about the cost reduction and profit that the doctor could bring them by helping advance their scheduled plans. It was this kind of conduct and negligence that led to Michael’s death."

In response to these allegations, the company announced that Williams was never a beneficiary in the contract signed between Michael Jackson and AEG, and therefore he cannot make claims in this regard. The company called his lawsuit foolish and added that, according to four articles of the law, Williams is not eligible to intervene in this case. They also assessed his actions as an attempt to obtain money by using Michael Jackson’s death, and said:

"These people are trying to make money from Michael Jackson’s death in exactly the same way they made money from his life."
