Michael Jackson’s concert at Wembley: the world’s number one DVD
Michael Jackson’s Wembley concert DVD has topped the charts one week after its release in the United States and many other countries.
The Michael Jackson Foundation, in a statement emailed to us, says:
"Michael Jackson’s Wembley Concert is the number one DVD in the world. Spike Lee’s documentary Bad 25 has been praised by critics and will be shown on ABC on Thanksgiving Day. Entertainment Weekly gave Bad 25 a score of 20. Michael Jackson’s Immortal Tour with Cirque du Soleil was the best-selling North American tour in the first half of 2012. This tour travels around Europe this month and has recently won the Billboard Creative Excellence Award. This Is It is also the most successful music documentary in history.
The world loves Michael Jackson. Be assured that the Foundation will do everything it can to ensure that his fans enjoy new projects, while also adding to his extraordinary legacy as an artist and humanitarian—and at the same time protecting the wealth of his heirs. Unfortunately, a small number of people are still blocking the full realization of Michael’s legacy potential. These people, based on a handful of baseless internet theories, engage in rumor-mongering and lying—just as they did during Michael’s lifetime.
This week, some of these baseless theories—part of a book written by Randall Sullivan—were brought up again in an article by Vanity Fair. Although we do not want to, and do not feel it is necessary, to respond to this nonsense, we would like to remind everyone of the facts.
The claim that John Branca and Howard Witzman did not support Mrs. Jackson’s lawsuit against AEG due to a conflict of interest is not only false, but baseless. The Foundation has decided not to become involved in this case because no evidence has been found indicating that this company is guilty in the painful death case of Michael. The fate of this case will be decided in court, based on the verdict of the jury. Moreover, the Foundation’s trustees are troubled by the possibility of unpleasant and damaging information coming to light as a result of this case, which could tarnish Michael’s reputation.
Another shameless claim in this book is that Michael’s funeral was delayed because of the Foundation’s actions.
As for the credibility of the will, we must say that this document has been accepted legally, and the court properly appointed John Branca and John McClain as trustees of the Foundation. Those who resist Michael’s wishes previously had ample opportunity to challenge the will. Michael’s 2002 will is exactly in line with his three previous wills.
Sitting comfortably and issuing theories is what Mr. Sullivan has done; that is not journalism—it is rumor-dealing for money. Just look at the sources Sullivan used for writing his book.
