How Llama Louie Ruined a Big Collaboration

In the early ۱۹۸۰s, before the release of the Thriller album, Michael and Freddie were in Michael Jackson’s home studio in Hayvenhurst, busy recording songs. Michael had a unique zoo at home, made up of a llama, a snake, a parrot, a dog, a cat...

Jim Beach, in the new DVD The Great Pretender made about Freddie Mercury, said:

"Michael and Freddie got along with each other on everything, except one thing. One day, out of the blue, Freddie called me and said, ‘Honey, can you please come and take me out of here? I’m recording with a llama. Enough already, and I want to come outside.’"

Apparently, Michael Jackson’s llama had a habit of showing up at its owner’s workplace studio without being invited and freely wandering in.

For years, Mercury regretted the day he had to leave Michael’s home studio because of Louie’s presence. In an interview that has never been seen before, which is part of the new DVD, he says:

"I think one of the songs we were working on would have been released on Thriller—if we had finished it, but I left the work."
