A bigger cell for Conrad Murray

A day after Conrad Murray’s defense lawyer sent a protest letter to the Los Angeles sheriff, Murray was given a bigger cell—but he remains unhappy. His lawyer, Valerie Wass, says the new room is still unsuitable.

The previous room had iron bars instead of a door, and of course a small window. Murray could stick his long legs out through the bars and rest. The current room is somewhat larger, but it has a solid door—and there’s no window.

Wass complained: "This room is like a closet, and it has driven my client crazy." When Murray called Valerie Wass on Wednesday, he told her: "Valerie, I’m dying—save me."

Michael Flanagan and Valerie Wass are expected to meet soon with the trustees of the Los Angeles jail in hopes of arranging better conditions for their client. Wass says Murray should be able to exercise and breathe fresh air for more than one day per week.

Wass has pushed further and says: "The best decision the sheriff can make is to allow Murray to spend his final year of incarceration under protection in his own home."

Murray caused Michael’s death and left three of his children orphaned. He was sentenced to four years in prison, and under California laws, after serving half of that term he may receive parole.
