A Tribute Song by Siedah Garrett for Michael Jackson Is Released
Earlier we reported that Siedah Garrett was busy making a song titled “Gonna Keep On Loving You,” which is actually her response to her duet song with Michael, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” released in 1987 on the album Bad.
As Bad 25 gets closer to release, Siedah has put this song up for sale on her website and has released its video on YouTube. You can download this video. The song mix was done by Bruce Swedien, the sound engineer for the Bad album.
Siedah sings in this song:
“I remember, it’s just like yesterday, all the things you showed me and everything you said / I loved you and I still love you, I’ve always loved you and I will always love you / for the rest of my life, many things can change, but whatever happens, I will still love you / you were a treasure, but you were treated badly / you will always be here because the magic of your music lives in me and is forever etched in my mind.”
Siedah said about why she made this song:
“This song is a tribute to my friend and teacher, Michael Jackson, and a response to our number one song. When we recorded this song or performed it on tour, my feeling was always that it was being sung just for me. I wanted to respond to him with this song and, in a way, write him a love letter to tell the story of our first meeting and to show everyone how amazing it was for me to be in his presence and to have been able to stay in touch with him for years. This song expresses my deepest feelings for him and is a thank-you for all the personal attention and incredible opportunities he gave me.”
