Ne-Yo Recalls Working With MJ

(31-8-2012) At a tribute concert in New York (USA), singer Ne-Yo, who wrote for Michael Jackson's unfinished last album, recalled working with the music icon: "Whenever I get to that place like, damn, Mike is gone, I can listen back to those songs and [think of] the time that we met. His first words to me when he walked into the room were, 'You know what my favorite song of yours is,' and he started singing lyrics... I almost fainted. I didn't, but I came this close." Ne-Yo performed Michael’s songs "Smooth Criminal," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel" at the tribute concert. He recalls that he first talked to Michael after receiving a phone call from him in the spring of 2009. But on Michael’s first attempt to reach him, Ne-Yo hung up, thinking it was a prank call. "I figured it was somebody playin'." After Michael tried again, the two made plans to meet. "We met up in New York, then he smiles and gave me a big hug, and says, 'You know what my favorite song of yours is? [singing] Please don't worry about me, I'm fine.' He started singing my damn song ['Go On, Girl']. I almost lost it at that point. I maintained, but inside, I was jumping around like a six-year-old girl. It was bad. It was really, really bad.
