TJ on track to become the permanent guardian of Michael Jackson’s children
It seems that the game Germain, Janet, Rebbie, and Randy (known as the JJRR group) started some time ago is nearing its end. They have gone silent regarding Prince’s statement about Janet preventing Katherine from contacting her grandchildren and her threat—“If you continue with your lies, I will continue telling the truth.”
Yesterday, Perry Sanders, Katherine Jackson’s lawyer, released a statement. The day before, Sanders had reported that the result of his constructive negotiations with his client, Katherine, would be published in a statement the next day. Katherine Jackson has agreed to have her grandson, TJ, help with the permanent guardianship of Michael’s children. That way, Katherine will no longer have to worry about everyday issues, because a large portion of her responsibilities will be placed on TJ, the 34-year-old. The statement reads as follows:
“This morning, TJ Jackson’s attorney, Charles Schulz Form, will file a petition on behalf of his client requesting permanent guardianship of Michael Jackson’s children. This request follows the order issued by the court on Wednesday regarding temporary guardianship rights for TJ Jackson. Yesterday, after a very constructive negotiation that began with my discussions and those of Mrs. Jackson, and then included Prince Jackson, TJ Jackson, and Mr. Schulz, it was agreed that the best interests of the children and of Mrs. Jackson are served by filing for a joint guardianship order at the beginning of next week. In the guardianship petition, TJ’s involvement in matters related to the children’s guardianship since the tragic death of Michael Jackson will be described. After reaching the above agreement, we invited Margaret Ladayz, the legal attorney for Michael’s children, by phone to attend the hearing. Mrs. Ladayz received Prince’s confirmation that all of the children agree with this decision.
If the court approves this decision, all concerns regarding events such as those we witnessed over the past few days will come to an end. TJ will also be granted greater authority to handle matters such as managing the home, personnel, and security forces. He may also legally act as the children’s representative in matters related to their education and schooling. TJ has often handled the children’s educational matters by being present at school, and the new agreement—if approved by the court—will allow this process to continue.
From this point on, Mrs. Jackson can focus on more personal matters related to the children’s lives. She will continue, as before, to manage the family’s monthly allowance. Mrs. Jackson is very pleased at the thought that she can be the children’s grandmother without the burdensome everyday concerns, including managing the staff of this prominent family, and enjoy watching them grow. She greatly appreciates the support that the public has shown her and the children, and hopes the court will approve the request for joint guardianship. She is eager to enjoy her very close relationship with the children and to shift the tensions onto someone else.
In the coming week, after this request is submitted to the court, more information will be provided to the public. Until then, no other statement regarding the children’s guardianship will be issued.”
After this statement was released, Randy Jackson expressed his opposition on Twitter:
“When Rebbie, Janet, and Germain recently went to the Calabasas home, the Foundation did not allow them to enter. A letter banning their entry, signed by the Foundation attorney Howard Weitzman, was presented. The Foundation is trying to separate my mother from her family just like Michael.” TJ lied to the court.
Germain has also recently written: “Whatever happens, whatever is said, we are a family, we are one, we heal.”
