A Persian cover of one of Michael Jackson’s songs airs on Belgian radio

Belgium’s NRJ radio played a Persian cover of one of his songs—“You Rock My World”—five days before the anniversary of the King of Pop’s death.

The demo for this song was worked on three years ago in a studio in Tehran by Hamid Bagherli. Hamid says he was unhappy with the result, which is why he left the song in the studio. According to him, one of the studio’s partners—who now lives in Belgium—had worked on the track without his knowledge and, after finalizing it, sent the Persian cover to Belgian radio so it could be aired on the occasion of the third anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death.

The song was broadcast along with a mix of songs by other artists, including American singers such as Usher and Akon, also on Belgian radio. Even though it’s sung in Persian, it apparently appealed to Belgian listeners, because on the day it was played it ranked ninth above the other Belgian songs. The top spot for that day’s songs was taken by “Hollywood Tonight,” Michael Jackson’s beautiful song.
