Now, the story of Bubbles....Name: Bubbles
Gender: Male

Born: 1983 in Austin, Texas
Bubbles was born in a medical laboratory. As a baby, he was taken from his mother and sold to an animal trainer in Hollywood named Bob Dunn. Later, Bubbles was bought by Michael Jackson and gained worldwide fame. He appeared in television programs, films, and music clips, including Michael’s video for “Liberian Girl.” In 1987, during the Bad tour, he traveled across Japan with Michael. During this trip, he attended press conferences and, in front of reporters’ cameras, moonwalked with his feet. Michael loved him very much and, as the photo shows, ordered outfits for him similar to his own.
Bubbles lived with Michael at Neverland until 1990, when he retired at the age of six to seven. He was no longer a small, strong monkey, and his presence among people was not safe like before. This star chimp began living at a California animal care center and settled next to a larger monkey named Sam.
In March 2005, after Mr. Dunn stepped down from his job, Bubbles and Sam were moved to the Center for Great Apes in the state of Florida, along with many other monkeys who were also entertainment-world retirees.
Now, at age 29, Bubbles weighs 77 kilograms and still lives alongside Sam, who is 40.
The Florida monkey care center website introduces him like this:
"Bubbles is handsome and has a charismatic personality. He is intelligent, and his behavior with children is very friendly and gentle. He is sensitive and seeks attention. If there is even a very minor scratch on part of his body, he shows it to his cage caretakers again and again to gain their sympathy."
The owner of the Florida monkey care center says Bubbles can easily live until age sixty, ten years longer than the lifespan of his previous owner. Michael died three years ago at age fifty.
A few years ago, the King of Pop went to Florida to visit this old friend, and the caretakers say Bubbles recognized him.
Bob Dunn says: "When Bubbles was separated from Michael, he missed his old owner, and now that Michael has passed away, he will miss him too." He says chimpanzees are very intelligent and their memory works well. Dunn believes Michael considered Bubbles like his first child, and he hopes Michael’s children will support these siblings and come to visit so he doesn’t feel lonely and miss them.
In 2010, Latoya, Michael’s older sister, visited this center to see Bubbles.
