Spike Lee: Michael Jackson Is One of a Kind
A while ago, you read an interview with Spike Lee about his new documentary here.
Lee revealed this information in an interview with GQ magazine. Here is another part of that interview:
"GQ: Details magazine has dubbed Adam Levine (the Maroon 5 singer) the new king of pop. What do you think?
Spike Lee: The king of pop? Of course I don’t have any hostility toward my host (Adam Levine), and I don’t think he personally asked that magazine to give him such a title. But nowadays, many of these magazines cause people trouble with titles like that.
GQ: Who do you think is the closest artist to Mike K?
Spike Lee: Actually, that’s an interesting question. I don’t think anyone exists. Of course, there are people who dance well—for example, Chris Brown and Usher.
GQ: And maybe a younger heartthrob, like Justin Bieber?
Spike Lee: Is Justin Bieber new to Michael Jackson? What’s interesting is that for this documentary we interviewed Justin Bieber, and you know that Michael’s his idol. I like Kanye (West) and Jay-Z and the rest of them, but Michael Jackson is unique. So if there is only one Michael Jackson, how could someone else become the new king of pop?"
