Conrad Murray complains about prison food

Former doctor Conrad Murray was sentenced to four years in prison a few months ago for involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson. Still insisting he is not guilty, he has sent his appeal case to the appeals court. Previously, his request for leave from prison had been rejected by Judge Pastor. Murray had asked to be released from prison while his case was being considered. But the judge clearly said that his presence in society is dangerous and carries a risk of escape. Now, Conrad Murray is being held in solitary confinement away from the other inmates, because prison officials are worried he could be attacked by other prisoners because of his crime. During visitation, he comes out of his cell with leg irons and handcuffs, and once a week for an hour he walks on top of the prison roof. But he is complaining about prison food. He says he has lost 14 kilograms and that his prison meals have given him severe diarrhea. He says the prison water has a bad smell and taste, and he compares his daily meal to “cat food.” In prison, Murray buys a can of tuna for $4.25 each. A can of mackerel costs $2.50, and Murray says only he and the prison cats have to eat it. Meanwhile, the prison supervisor says the situation here is better than in other prisons.
