The song Elvis Presley’s daughter dedicated to Michael Jackson

lisamarie-mj-2.jpg Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson’s former wife, dedicated the song “Sunshower” (sun shower: a phenomenon in which rain and sunshine occur at the same time) to him on the first anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, two years ago. This song had been performed in 1998 by American rock vocalist Chris Cornell for the album Euphoria Morning. You can listen to it on YouTube. Lisa Marie believes that “sun shower” expresses her feelings about Michael. She wrote on her MySpace blog: "I couldn’t have said it any better." Lisa Presley hadn’t explained her interpretation of the song, but you can read the lyrics below: To the darkness of red flowers, to the softness of sand, I feel your healing in your stinging I hear the sound of your laughter and my soul is freed You cry on forgotten graves Creeping over me like ivy, inside my veins and my eyes That, like the feeling of missing you or the memory of happy days that have passed, breaks me apart But it’s good, when your pain has taken over, and rain falls on you It’s good when you find your way, and you see that what disappears before you is invisible It’s good Even though your garden has turned to autumn, I know its splendor One day it will bloom, in that beautiful sun shower Your eyes, as wide as the ocean, far away, a road adorned toward a better passage Days come after anxious dawns, and after that, anxious nights But it’s good Even though your garden has turned to autumn, I know its splendor One day it will bloom, in that beautiful sun shower What you will become one day is the same as what you are now lisamarie-mj-1.jpg Lisa Marie was married to Michael from 1994 to 1996. One day after Michael’s death, on June 25, 2009, she wrote on her blog that years earlier Michael had told her he thought he would have a fate similar to Elvis Presley—her father. (Read more) "Years ago, Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life. I can’t remember his question, but he asked me something about how my father died. (In the middle of the conversation) he went silent for a moment, stared at me very deeply, and in a firm, calm tone said, ‘I’m sorry that I will live my life the same way as my dad.’ I immediately tried to pull him out of that way of thinking. He shrugged and shook his head, as if he wanted me to understand that he knew what he was saying." Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977, when Lisa was 9 years old, in his bathroom at home due to an overdose of drugs. Michael was killed in an unintentional manner on June 25, 2009, with the anesthetic propofol that Dr. Murray had injected into him. Michael used propofol as a treatment for severe insomnia he had suffered from for years. One year after Michael’s death, in an Oprah Winfrey interview, when asked what similarities she sees between her father’s death and her husband’s, Lisa said: "This thought messes with me. Why did this happen to me twice? And both of them were extraordinary people whom I remember with the greatest love and respect. They had the same fate. I had the honor of being with them. My father’s death was painful, and this happened to me again.... I think to myself, what was life trying to teach me?" In this interview, Lisa rejected her earlier statements—made in criticism of Michael or mocking him—and called them a way of taking revenge on Michael. She said she had thought Michael didn’t love her, and that the divorce had been a tactic to pull Michael toward her. "I left him so he would come to me. And that was my foolishness, because he didn’t come." They kept their relationship for four years after the divorce, looking for a way to return to their marriage. But in the end, Lisa decided to leave Michael. She now believes Michael loved her and was working hard to get her back. Their last conversation dates back to 2005. When she told Michael—who was dealing with his court case—that she didn’t want to be friends with him anymore, she made him cry. Lisa said that she went to Michael’s grave at the September 2009 funeral to apologize to him. Source: eMJey.com / elvisinfonet
