Immortal dancer talks about the tour
Mike Cameron is one of the lucky dancers selected for Michael Jackson’s Immortal tour, which is run by Cirque du Soleil and the Michael Jackson Foundation.
Immortal, the highest-grossing tour in the United States, went to the city of Minnesota, and Cameron sat down with CBS Minnesota to talk about working on the tour.
Question: How are the audiences reacting to this tour?
Mike Cameron: So far, it’s been better than we imagined. Fans come for his music. I’ve seen people of every age among the audience—dressing like Michael, shouting his name, dedicating their love to him. Every night, after the show ends, their voices are still in my ears. I’m impressed that they’re there throughout the show and shouting this loudly. They stand the whole time. They’ve shown us so much love, and it’s because of Michael.
Question: How long did it take you to learn Michael’s dance?
Mike Cameron: What the choreographers told us from the very beginning was that you’ll never be able to perform his dance perfectly. The reason is that Michael, as an artist, believed in growth, learning, and creating new things—and he acted on that. During the tour, we’re constantly rehearsing to deliver the best work we can.
